Earthquake strikes Iran amid ongoing US-Israel military action

A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck southern Iran, shaking the Gerash area in Fars Province, according to seismic reports.

The tremor occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres on March 3.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant structural damage as of the time of filing this report.

The quake comes at a time of heightened tension in the country following airstrikes by the United States and Israel.

The strikes targeted Iranian military facilities and other strategic sites in different parts of the country.

Residents in some areas have reported fear and uncertainty as the security situation continues to evolve.

Emergency authorities have yet to issue a detailed assessment of possible structural damage from the earthquake or confirm whether aftershocks are expected.
