As the global Christian community celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has assured residents of the nation’s capital that “comprehensive security measures” are in place to ensure a peaceful and safe holiday.
In his 2026 Easter message, released on Friday, the Minister congratulated the Christian faithful for successfully completing the 40-day Lenten season—a period of fasting, prayer, and abstinence.
Wike emphasized that the essence of Easter aligns perfectly with the current national drive for recovery and growth.
He urged residents to emulate the sacrifice of Christ by fostering unity within their diverse communities.
According to him: “Easter is a symbol of new beginning.I urge FCT residents to rededicate themselves to the service of our fatherland.
“May the joy of this season fill our homes, and may we continue to work together toward a community that reflects the values of love and kindness.”
The Minister moved to allay fears regarding safety during the festivities, stating that all security apparatuses within the FCT have been mobilized.
”The FCT Administration is committed to your safety. Adequate measures are in place so you can focus on what matters most: family, friends, and faith,” he assured.
Beyond security, Wike utilized the occasion to highlight the visible “infrastructure revolution” currently sweeping through the FCT. He credited the rapid completion of road projects and urban renewal initiatives to the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Wike noted that the FCTA is working tirelessly to ensure that the progress seen in the city center is equally felt in the satellite towns, ensuring a “prosperous and harmonious” territory for all residents.
He concluded by wishing all Nigerians a happy and spirit-filled Easter celebration.
