The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali has set up a response committee on Ebola virus.

According to a memo signed by the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Obafemi, and made available to journalists in Ilorin, stated that the 13-man Committee is headed

by Prof. Ayo Ojuawo of the Department of Child Health and Paediatrics, College of Health Sciences.

The Committee, which has been given a four-point terms of reference, is mandated to put in place a comprehensive programme for Ebola curtailment and response in the University; to foster linkages with relevant national or international health agencies within the context of Ebola epidemic response; to ensure effective communication on Ebola Virus to members of the University community; and to make any other recommendations that may be related to this assignment.

Members of the committee include: Prof. M. T. Akande of the Department of Epidemiology; Prof. O. A. Mokuolu of the Department of Child Health; Prof. N. Yusuf of the Department of Sociology; Prof. (Mrs.) R. A. Odunola of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences; and Prof. M. I. Ahmed of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Others are: Dr. (Mrs.) M. O. Ajiboye of the University Health Services; Dr. K. Wahab of the Department of Medicine; Dr. A. Yusuf of the Student Affairs Unit; Dr. A. Fadeyi of the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology; and Mr. K. Akogun, the Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs. The Faculty Officer, Clinical Sciences, Mrs. M. B. Zakariyah, will serve as the Secretary to the Committee.
