The Zamfara state Commissioner for Health, who doubles as the Chairman of the state Emergency Committee on Ebola Virus, Alh Kabir Ahmad Janyau, has warned the members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state to always ensure hygienic and environmental safety against infection with the virus.
Janyau, who delivered the warning alert at the state NYSC orientation camp, located at Tsafe local government area, during a session for the sensitisation programme, organised by the state government through the state sensitization team on Ebola Virus, informed that thorough hygienic in all activities among the populace is seen as preventive measure against the dreaded virus.
He further contended that it is easy for one with negligence to be exposed to the danger of contacting the deadly virus, stressing that poor maintenance of environment is one of the dangerous ways of contracting the virus.
The Commissioner further warned that careless use of bush meat facilitates contact with the virus and therefore, the general public should always seek for health advices from medical experts, who are currently embarked deep on path-finding its prevention and cure.
Janyau called on the corps members to always ensure the cleanliness of their living camp and environs as well as ensuring effective treatment of bush meat before eating it at all.
He donated an undisclosed amount of money and cows, to be used as a replacement of any dangerous meat hunted from the bush for consumption and assured that the state government is always ready for the improvement of their health during their stay in the state.
