As the World Economic Forum begins meeting today, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), students writing the May/June West African Examination Council (WAEC) terminal examinations will not be affected by the closure of public offices and schools during its three days duration.
The Federal government had announced the shutdown of public institutions and restriction of movement, to ease traffic flow in Abuja, the nation’s capital, for the forum holding between May 7 (today) and May 9.
A statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media to the FCT minister, Mr. Nosike Ogbuenyi, quoted the Secretary, FCT Education, Malam Kabir Usman, as saying the students were free to move unhindered to their various examination centres, like those on essential services.
“They (students) are however advised to wear their uniforms and carry their identity cards at all times.
“Public and private schools are also advised to convey their students from designated points to the various examination centers, and parents and students were also advised to contact the various school principals for further details,” the statement said.
