The Chairman of the Edo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emperor Jarret Tenebe has urged security agencies, including the Police, the Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigeria Army, to be vigilant and take necessary measures to prevent a potential disruption of the Attorney General’s Office by alleged supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the party’s governorship candidate in the 2024 election, Asue Ighodalo.
Tenebe in a statement said the disruption allegedly aims to influence the ongoing Edo State Governorship tribunal.
The APC chairman added that the PDP and Asue Ighodalo’s supporters plan to carry out this unlawful act this week, highlighting the need for the security agencies to be proactive in preventing this disruption.
He emphasized that the ruling party will not tolerate any attempts to compromise the judicial process or disrupt peace.
This development comes amidst the ongoing Edo State Governorship tribunal, where the PDP and Asue Ighodalo are challenging the outcome of the governorship election.
Tenebe urged the security agencies to take this threat seriously and hold those responsible for this planned disruption accountable for their actions.
He advised the alleged protesters to allow the cause of justice to run its course instead of attempting to indulge in self help.
