The number of lawmakers of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the Edo State House of Assembly has reduced by one following the defection of Ojiezele Osezua Sunday, from the party to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ojiezele who is representing the Esan South-East constituency, defected on Monday.
The lawmaker, who was elected on the platform of APC between 2019 and 2023, was among the 10 lawmakers who were inaugurated by the immediate past Governor Godwin Obaseki.
He was again to defect the PDP and was also re-elected in the 2023 general election on the platform of the then ruling party.
Acting Chairman of the APC in Edo state, Emperor Jarret Tenebe received the two-time lawmaker alongside members of the state executive council.
Tenebe while receiving the decampee back to the party, said more members of opposition parties would join the party in the coming days.
Ojiezele, who described his defection as homecoming explained that he dumped the PDP because of the irreconcilable crisis rocking the party both in the state and at the national levels.
The defected lawmaker, who represents the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo in the last September 21, 2024 governorship election constituency, promised to woo more of his supporters back to the party.
