Edo State government has promised to off set pension arrears and other issues of concern including gratuities owed pensioners in the State.
The assurance was in response to peaceful protest by pensioners on Wednesday in Benin City.
Philip Shaibu, the State deputy governor disclosed this while addressing protesting pensioners who blocked the popular King square on Wednesday morning in Benin City.
He pleaded with the pensioners to give the government time to resolve the issue once for all.
Shaibu explained that the government has already set up a Committee headed by the Head of Service Anthony Okungbowa to work out modalities for possible payments.
He also noted that the executive members of the Pension Union were part of the committee to ensure proper representation.
