The National vice chairman (South East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu has urged Hon. Dennis Idahosa, one of the aspirants that contested the Edo state governorship primary election under the platform of the APC, to accept the decision of the party and drop his agitations.
It could be recalled that Idahosa who was announced as the winner of the primary by the chairman of the election committee, Governor Hope Uzodinma before the party declared the exercise inconclusive has been protesting that he should be recognized as the authentic candidate of the party for the Edo state governorship election taking place on September 17.
However, the party relying on the position of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which stated that it only monitored the primary that earlier returned Sen. Monday Okpebholo ordered that the exercise must be completed since the February 17 process was disrupted by thugs.
Arodiogbu who spoke to newsmen on Monday said while he may not be in the best position to decide which of the two exercises that was properly conducted because he was not in Edo during the primaries, advised Idahosa to drop his agitations and support the position of the party which he said is supreme.
“The party is supreme. Whatever decision the party has taken, one should submit to that decision. And I will plead with Idahosa to submit to the decision of the party. But I do not have facts to judge the outcome of the first primary that was declared inconclusive or the second primary.
“I think Hon. Idahosa has his right in the constitution of Nigeria and within the constitution of the party to express his feelings. But I believe the first thing is the family; it is to submit to the decision of the party.”
He also expressed his confidence that if all the stakeholders work together, the party has what it takes to win the election and reclaim leadership of the state.
