Edo lawmakers’ parallel sittings continue

The emergence of parallel sittings by the feuding Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) members of Edo state House of Assembly continued unabated yesterday.

Factional speaker of the PDP faction, Hon. Festus Ebea, led 8 other lawmakers to preside over legislative business at the state House of Assembly complex.

The members also passed resolution calling on commissioners in the ministries of Works and Environment to urgently  remobilise to site over the alleged sub-standard construction of the road leading to Urhonigbe.

In a related development, the house member representing Etsako Constituency one, Razak Momoh at the plenary denied appending his signature as one of those who  purportedly impeached Festus Ebea as the Deputy Speaker of the house.

Momoh said the signature was forged and called on relevant authorities to take note, however vowed to launch  a legal action against the Uyi Igbe faction whom he said perpetrated the heinous act .

The House however adjourned till Tuesday, July 15.

Meanwhile, the APC lawmakers, led by the embattled factional Speaker, Hon. Uyi Igbe leading 14 other members of the House for legislative business in Government House said the temporary measure, the state Assembly has had to move its plenary to the old Chamber of the Legislature so that normal proceedings continue pending the completion of the repair of the Hallowed Chamber at the Anthony Enahoro House.
