Edo: Libya returnees set for reintegration

A fresh set of Libya returnees from Edo state are preparing for reintegration haven acquired training on business skills and cooperatives.
At the workshop in Benin, the Project Manager, Abraham Tamrat (IOM) told reporters that the project is under the EU-IOM initiative for migrant protection and reintegration in Nigeria.
Represented by a Senior Project Officer, IOM Benin Sub Office, Mr. Aigbeze Uyimwen assured that “the training will equip the returnees with the knowledge for their start up Business.
“After this training, we ‘ll now commence their reintegration proper thereafter they’ll be empowered to start a small and medium scale business. Some will start as collective group while others will start as individuals”, the project manager said.
He revealed that the beneficiaries include nursing mothers, pregnant women and other returnees who were assisted by IOM to return to the Country.
While advising the returnee migrants to keep hope alive, Abraham Tamrat, charged the beneficiaries to use the skills acquired during the training to improve on the wellbeing and their families and Communities.
A trainer and Executive Director of Society for the Empowerment of Young Persons, (SEYP) Jennifer Ero, said “the four days entrepreneurship training will avail the trainees who are mainly youths to know the nitty-gritty of business and its sustainability”.
Another trainer, Wande Pearse, expressed optimism that the trainees will explore the business skills imparted in them in their future endeavours.
Some of the returned migrants including Christian Eghedo and Osaretin Steven both were assisted to return to Nigeria May, 2017, commended the EU-IOM initiative which is in series.
