The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu on Tuesday alleged that some lawmakers have been mobilised to buy people’s votes during the upcoming governorship election, though he did not disclose their identity.
He spoke in Ibillo, Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the state, while addressing a campaign rally.
The deputy governor also stated that the state government has made the payment of pension a priority.
Shaibu said pensioners in the state no longer wear black or take to the streets to protest because the government had made their welfare a priority.
“Our first citizens no longer take to the streets to protest the non-payments of their pension and entitlements. They no longer wear black to protest. Gov. Godwin Obaseki has taken them off the streets.
“Some lawmakers have been mobilised to buy your votes, please use your Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to throw them out,” he said.
