Authorities of Edo State University, Iyamho, have disowned the Academic staff of Universities (ASUU) as it has began its second semester examinations last week Wednesday.
ASUU, had on August13 2017 begun an indefinite strike over alleged failure of the Federal government to faithfully implement the 2009 agreements and 2013 Memorandum of Understanding it signed with the union.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Stephen Omodia, said the move is to among others, to achieve uninterrupted academic calendar and deepen learning and teaching of its students in the Institution.
Omodia disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen in Benin.
According to him, “if we must do that, it will have the share compassion under the able leadership of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, that the academic system of the calendar should be stable and the import of that is to make us lay good foundation in terms of teaching and to also provide the functional basis of assessment”.
