Edo University, Iyamho, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state has emerged third among Nigerian Universities at the recently conducted Open Educational Resources (OER ranking.
The exercise was conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC) Institutional repository and it is the first in the series conducted under the leadership of the NUC Executive Secretary, Professor Abubakar Rasheed.
The OER ranking of of 12, 070 analyzed data, entails, teaching, learning and research materials medium, digital adopted as module for the selection under an open access licence that permits no-cost access use, adaptation and redistribution by others, with little or no restrictions.
The baseline for 50 Universities that participated in the exercise, was supervised by a 12-member National Experts Group on OER Ranking (NEGOR) and a four-person team of external experts from outside Nigeria.
Of the 160 Nigerian Universities that were ranked on OER, the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), came first, while, Mountain-Top University, Makogi Obu, Ogun State and Edo University Iyamho came second and third respectively.
According to the NUC ranking, the Universities of Lagos and Ibadan came up in the fourth and fifth positions while Covenant University came behind the rear as the sixth position.
