EFCC operatives block access to Malami’s Abuja residence
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday blocked access to the Abuja residence of Abubakar Malami, former attorney-general of the federation (AGF).
This is coming after EFCC had on Monday attempted to raid the house but were prevented by Malami on the ground that the operatives action was a violation of the ongoing judicial process.
The operatives had to leave when they couldn’t produce a valid search warrant from the court.
However, eyewitnesses on Tuesday said the operatives arrived in five buses and took control of Koranakh close, off Amazon street, effectively sealing off the neighbourhood.
Residents and visitors were reportedly prevented from accessing the street as the anti-graft agency mounted a heavy security presence.
The team, reportedly led by Folarin Dare, was dressed in the commission’s red and black jackets and visibly armed.
The residence at No. 2 Koranakh close could not be accessed as the anti-graft agency took control of the surroundings.
