The Deputy Chairman of the Yobe State Council of Chiefs and the Mai of Bade, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Suleiman, in his Eid-el-Fitr message, has called for unity among the people of the Bade Emirate and Yobe State at large, emphasizing that the time has come for the community to embrace peace and harmony.

The Mai Bade made this call on Monday morning at his palace in Gashu’a, the headquarters of Bade Local Government Area in Yobe State, while receiving Eid greetings from the District heads, Village heads, and ward heads of the emirate.

He stressed the need for collective efforts in eliminating actions that could disrupt the peace and stability of the emirate.

“There can be no meaningful development without peace, and it is our duty to work tirelessly to ensure lasting peace for our people. This can only be achieved by recognizing the importance of peace in every society.”

The Emir also urged herders and farmers to avoid anything that could trigger conflict or misunderstanding between them.

He stated, “We cannot afford to sit back and allow conflicts between herders and farmers to hinder our progress. We must rise and confront the factors fueling disputes among us.”

He further added, “Each of us has a role to play in ensuring that our people live in tranquility and peace. We must remind ourselves that every farmer is a herder, and every herder is a farmer, meaning we are all brothers and sisters.”

The Mai of Bade called for stronger collaboration among the traditional rulers to prevent issues that could lead to unrest and to promote lasting peace in the towns and villages of the Bade Emirate.
