Austin Ejide has denied rumours claiming that he is injured and could miss the Super Eagles’ World Cup campaign.
There had been news reports that the 30-year-old broke his rib during last weekend’s game for his club in Israel.
But the Hapoel Be’er Sheva goalkeeper has said he is fit and would be available for Nigeria’s challenge in Brazil next month.
“I don’t know where peddlers of such a rumour got it from. I don’t know who really is wishing me bad you know because this is not the first time they will peddle such rumours about me,” Ejide said.
“Each time a major competition is close by, you begin to see stories here and there that Austin is injured.
“Some even go to the extent of printing out pictures of past events to say I’m injured which is not true,” he said.
Ejide, who has been a long-term deputy to Vincent Enyeama, is one of four goalkeepers called up to the Nigeria preliminary World Cup squad.
