The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong confidence in the re-election prospects of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, ahead of the June 20 governorship election, with party leaders predicting a comfortable victory at the polls.
Speaking during the inauguration of the APC National Campaign Council for the election, the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, described Oyebanji as the party’s strongest asset in the contest and commended his administration’s development efforts across the state.
Yilwatda praised the governor for undertaking infrastructure projects and promoting unity among residents, saying his performance had strengthened the APC’s position in Ekiti.
According to the APC chairman, the governor’s record in office has earned him widespread acceptance among the people and positioned him favourably for another term.
“We are happy to celebrate you, and I’m grateful to God for giving you to the people of Ekiti and to our party as well,” Yilwatda said while addressing party stakeholders and campaign council members.
He noted that the APC was entering the election from a position of strength and remained confident in its ability to secure victory.
The party chairman further stated that the APC possesses the political structure, grassroots support and organisational capacity required to win both the Ekiti governorship election and future national contests.
Presenting Oyebanji to party supporters, Yilwatda described him as the leading candidate in the race and suggested that his performance in office had given him a significant advantage over his opponents.
He argued that the governor’s achievements in infrastructure development and governance had resonated with voters across the state.
The inauguration of the campaign council marks the formal commencement of intensified electioneering activities by the ruling party as it seeks to retain control of the state.
Political observers view the election as an important test of the APC’s popularity in Ekiti and a potential indicator of voter sentiment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
For the APC, a convincing victory for Oyebanji would reinforce the party’s dominance in the state and provide momentum for its broader political ambitions.
With the countdown to the election underway, party leaders have intensified mobilisation efforts, expressing confidence that voters will reward the governor with another four-year mandate.
