The Officials and players of El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri arrived in Kano, their adopted home on Sunday afternoon ahead of their week 21 Nigeria Premier League fixture with Warri Wolves on Wednesday 6th of August 2014.
The Desert Warriors resumed training this morning (yesterday) in Kano to shape up for their must win match against the Seasiders from Warri.
According to the media officer of El-Kanemi Warriors, Anthony Obaseki told SL10 that the team have been in Maiduguri after their week 20 loss on the road to Enugu Rangers but they are already preparing for their week 21 clash with Warri Wolves.
“The team is in high spirit, we’ve put that loss in Enugu behind us and the technical crew have done their bit to correct the mistakes their noticed in Enugu,” said Obaseki.
“We arrived in Kano on Sunday and resumed training this morning and our focus in on the match against Warri Wolves. Wolves can’t stop us fom getting the maximum points on Wednesday, I’m not underrating them but I know with what I’ve seen in the team, El-Kanemi Warriors can stand shoulder high with any team,” said Obaseki.
Obaseki also shared the pain and frustration the Desert Warriors are passing through due to the fact that El-Kanemi has been banished from their home ground due to security reasons.
“We spend much more playing our home games in Kano, our home games isn’t different from an away match because we aren’t playing in our home in Maiduguri.”
“We pay hotels bills just like we do when we play away from home; it’s not different at all. I hope the League Management Company (LMC) will just give us an opportunity to go back to our home ground,”Obaseki stated.
