The Borno State Police Command has trained 518 constables to ensure a secure, hitch-free and credible 2023 elections in the state.

The State Commissioner of Police, Abdu Umar, told newsmen in Maiduguri, Friday, January 20, that the constables would be deployed to their respective local government areas for the exercise.

He said their deployment had been approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.

The CP said the constables had been properly trained on the dos and don’ts of election security, the general conduct of their job and the need to shun all forms of corruption throughout the election exercise.

Umar said the deployment of the constables for the election duty stemmed from the urgent need for more security personnel to augment the existing manpower preparing for the exercise.

He assured that all the security agencies in the state would collaborate and make joint efforts to ensure a hitch-free and credible 2023 elections in the state.
