The city of Akure was treated to a football spectacle of the highest order as the fourth edition of the D’Royal Off-Season Football Tournament (DOFT 2026) concluded in grand style on Sunday, 12th July 2026.
In a final that will be remembered for years, debutants Elite FC edged out defending champions Olukayode FC by a lone goal to claim the coveted trophy. The winner received ₦1,000,000 and gold medals, while the runners‑up pocketed ₦500,000 and silver. Akure The King City clinched third place with a 2–0 win over Velocity FC, earning ₦200,000 and bronze.
The tournament also made history with the launch of the DOFT Women’s Cup, a three‑team competition that saw Onimarg FC emerge victorious with ₦200,000. K.D.O. FC and Havilah Queens took home ₦100,000 and ₦50,000 respectively.
In a remarkable show of inclusivity, DRIF staged the maiden Para-Table Tennis Championship, where seven special athletes competed in a novelty match and received a total of ₦300,000.
Before the final whistle, cultural group J‑29 thrilled the crowd with electrifying performances. Major sponsors and partners such as Bet9ja Foundation, Nestle Nigeria, Providus Bank, H&B Sports Global, Ageless, and GoldIt were fully represented, demonstrating their commitment to grassroots sports development.
Speaking at the event, DOFT President, Mr. Olaniboji Mathew (D’Royal), thanked all stakeholders, including referees, scouts, media, medical personnel, and loyal fans. He acknowledged the unwavering support of sponsors and partners, promising that the fifth edition would be a cynosure for all.
The tournament wrapped up with spectacular fireworks, capping off a memorable one‑month football festival.
