EMAN marks 1447AH Hijrah Celebration, launches Islamic Calendar and Community Development Projects in Okene

Date:

The El-Birru Muslim Association of Nigeria (EMAN) on recently held its annual Hijrah celebration to mark the beginning of the 1447AH Islamic year, with a focus on reviving Islamic cultural values and strengthening unity among Muslims in Ebiraland and beyond.

The event, which took place at the Ebira Central Mosque in Okene, also featured the official launch of the EMAN 1447AH Islamic Calendar and an appeal for support towards the third phase of the association’s community borehole project.

Delivering his welcome address, the Ameer of EMAN, Arc. Abdulyekeen Mamman, described the Hijrah as a moment of deep reflection for Muslims to renew their commitment to moral uprightness, peaceful coexistence, and community development.

“This year’s theme, ‘Hijrah: Migration from Deviant Cultures to Islamic Cultural Practices’ is particularly relevant as we face increasing moral and cultural challenges in Ebiraland,” he said. “We believe this gathering will inspire a collective resolve to uphold the timeless values of Islam.”

Though the keynote speaker, Prof. Adam Ahmad Abere, Provost of the Nigeria Defence College, Abuja, was unavoidably absent, his paper was delivered by Dr. Tajudeen Tanko, who urged Muslims to move away from harmful societal norms and embrace the principles of Islamic teachings in all aspects of life.

EMAN also used the platform to call for generous contributions towards the newly launched Hijrah calendar and its ongoing borehole initiative aimed at providing clean water across Ebira communities.

The association announced that it will issue a formal statement promoting peaceful coexistence, to be unveiled during a press conference following the event.

The annual Hijrah celebration attracted Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, community leaders, and Muslim faithful from across the Central Senatorial District of Kogi State, as well as from Abuja and other parts of the country.

The event concluded with prayers for peace, prosperity, and a return to the noble legacies of the pious predecessors who built harmonious and God-fearing communities.
