Embattled ex-hubby petitions police over threat to life

Date:

From Matthew Aramunde , Lagos

The ex-husband of a female Police woman, Mr. Lateef Ajagbe, has petitioned the Police authorities alleging threat to life and criminal abuse of office by his ex- heartthrob.

In a three page paragraph petition written by his Lawyers Adejumo, Ntadi & Co and addressed to the Lagos state Police Commissioner Umar Manko, which was made available to the Press, the petitioner is alleging threat to life, criminal abuse of office amongst others, against his ex-wife.

He revealed that his ex-wife, Lateef Olaleye is a Corporal and a boxer in the Sport section of the Nigerian Police Force, but that she is currently serving at the Agbboju Police Station in Lagos.

He claimed that they were married for twelve years and that the marriage is blessed with two surviving children, but because of what he described as irreconcilable differences, they parted ways in 2011.

He further claimed that he, all the while, has been responsible for the upkeep of the children and that his ex-wife, who is now married to a fellow policeman, did instruct him to, which he agreed, that whenever he is to hand over to her materials and money for the children, they should always meet at a designated shop in Ikeja because she does not want the current husband to suspect that she was still maintaining any form of relationship with him.

Things had went on smoothly, Ajagbe maintained ,until when the woman resorted to regular change of school for the children, a development he said was gradually affecting the performances of the children and that despite drawing the attention of the mother of his kids to this ugly development, his efforts fell on deaf ears.

Trouble however came to the fore, Ajagbe stressed, when without notifying him, the woman again effected a change, this time moving the children from a school where they were paying twelve thousand naira to the one that they will be paying eighteen thousand naira per term and that the moment, he protested, saying the woman went livid with anger and subsequently threatened to use the machinery of the Nigeria Police against him.

To make do her threat, he said Lateef caused a letter of invitation from the Human Rights Resource Center to be issued him on February 17, 2014 and that, to his charge-in, when he reported the next day at the office, he was confronted with the allegations of sending robbers to her house and losing five hundred thousand naira to the robbers, physical assault perpetrated on her and the use of stick to batter her on her head as reported by Lateef.
