Gummi Emirate Council in Zamfara, has organized a training programme for 100 Primary and Islamic schools teachers in the area, to enhance effective teaching and learning.
The training was in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), under its Reading and Numeracy Activity (RANA) programme.
The Emir of Gummi, Justice Lawal Hassan said that the training was one of the emirate’s interventions to improve education standard, by building the capacity of teachers in the area.
“Education is the responsibility of the society, not government alone.
“Considering the importance of education to the development of the society, we have no option than to partner with government and other stakeholders to improve the standard of education of our children.
“We will continue to partner with government and nongovernmental organizations to improve the education sector of our dear state,” the emir said.
He enjoined the beneficiaries to translate what they learnt in imparting qualitative education to their students.
In a remark, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Abubakar Maradun commended the emir for the intervention.
Represented by a member of the board, Abubakar Abdullahi, the chairman expressed the hope that the training would enhance the capacity of teachers and impact on learning outcomes.
“We are calling on well meaning individuals and other stakeholders to continue to support the development of education in the state”, he added.
