Empowering Communities, Envisioning a Brighter Future: The Tagwaye Progressive Network Story

Date:

In a bold move to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape, the Tagwaye Progressive Network (TPN) is emerging as a force for grassroots mobilisation and community development. Founded in 2026 by Hon. Dr. Obinna Simon, popularly known as MC Tagwaye, the movement is championing progressive leadership, inclusivity and sustainable growth across the country.

With its sights set on all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, TPN is working to empower citizens — particularly young people and women — to take ownership of their future. Through advocacy, empowerment programmes and social interventions, the network says it is fostering unity, deepening democratic values and driving change from the ground up.

MC Tagwaye, a multifaceted Nigerian personality with roots in entertainment, politics and humanitarian work, is leading the charge. As founder of TPN, he is leveraging his public profile to galvanise support for a vision he describes as people-centred and future-focused.

MC Tagwaye’s humanitarian efforts have earned him an honorary doctorate degree from the Institute of Professional Economists and Policy Management (IPEPM) in recognition of his outstanding work in awarding scholarships to over 100 less-privileged students, implementing healthcare initiatives, and launching economic empowerment programs. His innovative approach to addressing societal issues has garnered national recognition, and he has successfully delivered programs promoting national unity and using humor to tackle sensitive topics .

As a politician, MC Tagwaye has been actively involved in Nigerian politics, initially as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and later defecting to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 2025. He cited the APC’s abandonment of its founding principles, lack of reward system for loyal members, and gerontocratic leadership structure as reasons for his defection. In the SDP, he aims to contribute to the party’s mission of building a better Nigeria, focusing on youth empowerment, internal democracy, transparency, and accountability.

Through his work, MC Tagwaye continues to inspire and empower Nigerians, particularly young people, to take charge of their destiny and work towards a brighter future for the country.
