Okere Road, Warri, the only access road to the Nigerian Correctional Centre other wise known as Nigerian Prison Warri was closed for vehicular movements by the correctional centre authorities.
Battle ready combined government security agents as well as armed warders well heavily present at the front of the yard at as the time of writing this report.
Though no reason was given for the closure of the ever-busy road, but it was generally believed that the closure was to prevent a jail break as was the case the bloody jail break that occurred in Correctional Centre in Benin City on Monday October 19th, 2020 caused by hoodlums who were said have hijacked the national wide EndSARS protest.
More so the spread of the protest in Uvwie, Warri South and Udu local government areas at as the time of writing this report could probably response for the closure of the road.
Meanwhile, a public analyst, Comrade Kesiena Jackson has called for the drastic reduction of the bumper salaries of the national and state legislatures as measures aimed at revamping the poor Nigeria economy.
He made the call while commenting on the agitation of EndSARS protest in a media chat with our correspondent in Effurun on Monday, October 19, 2020.
Comrade Kesiena Jackson who noted that the on-going protest was long over due, reasoned, saying, “The National and state legislatures who are suppose to be on part time basis as in the case of most countries in the World, are earning fabulous salaries monthly, while career civil servants are paid peanuts and pensioners are languishing in poverty. This injustice should be part of the agitation of EndSARS protest,” he added.
