Engineers back FG’s industrial revolution policy

Engineers on the platform of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) have expressed the willingness to significantly plat their role towards supporting the federal government to achieve its transformation agenda of bringing about industrial revolution in the country.

NSE president, Engr. Ademola Isaac Olorunfemi said this yesterday during the society’s 2014 first quarterly dinner and conferment of fellowship on 13 of its deserving members.

“We are fully in support of steps taken by government which are geared towards the realisation of self-reliance and quick transition into a manufacturing and exporting nation. We must in one way or the other play significant roles to help government achieve this feat,” he said.

In furtherance to accomplishing this, the NSE said it has moved to contribute to the recently launched National Enterprise Development Programme, NEDEP and also established partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN, to execute this all-important national assignment.

“We are working together to see to the success of this programme in order to make SMES in the country functional and viable”, Olorunfemi said.

NSE also announced its plans to push for the replication of the Nigerian content development in other sub-sectors of the economy.

“To this end, we have entered into an arrangement with the Agricultural and Equipment Fabrication Association of Nigeria, AMEFAN to anchor a conference and exhibition where a methodology for the achievement of Nigerian content development in agricultural machinery will be presented to stakeholders”, he said.
