Ensure 2019 campaigns are issues based, Bishop tells politicians

The Bishop of Kaduna Diocese (Anglican Communion) Most Reverend Timothy Yahaya has called on politicians in the country to ensure that their campaign for the 2019 elections are issues based.
He made the assertion while speaking to the media after the Christmas service held in Kaduna on Tuesday.
According to him, politicians should tell Nigerians what is wrong with their health, education, security and industrial sectors and providing blueprints for the solution.
He warned the politicians to be wary of hate speech in their campaign, saying most of the political violence’s are because of hate speech.
The cleric also expressed dismay over the numbers of unemployed youth in the country. He stressed that in a country that 10 million youth are unemployed is worrisome.
He linked the current security challenges in the country to the large number of unemployed youth.
Bishop Yahaya called on the Federal government to put in place mechanism to revive the comatose factories in the country in order to create more job opportunity.
Speaking on the insecurity in the country, he said that it is becoming unpredictable because people who are supposed to be in charge of the security are now been targeted.
“If people like Barde and Alkali can be killed in the manner they were killed them what is the fate of the common man. The situation is disturbing.
“ Our security apparatus needs total over hauling to address the problems and there must be justice in the land,” he said
