The Enugu State Government has inaugurated the Vovinam Vietvodao Association Board with mandate to develop the sport in the State.
Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barr. Lloyd Ekweremadu, while inaugurating the association board in his office expressed delight on the quality of men and women appointed to serve, noting that the government has huge confidence in the future of the sport.
He remarked that the association is making history as pioneers, laying a solid foundation for the growth and development of VOVINAM VIETVODAO in the State.
He charged them to work in partnership with the Ministry and commit themselves to ensuring that Enugu State wins medals at the 2026 National Sports Festival, which the State will host.
“I commend you for submitting yourselves to serve Enugu State. You have chosen to devote your time and effort, and for this, you deserve commendation.
“It is historic that you stand as pioneers of this association. Your willingness to serve gives me confidence in the chances of Vovinam Vietvodao to win laurels for the State at the forthcoming National Sports Festival.”
Earlier, while presenting the members to the Commissioner, the Director of Coaching in the Ministry, Mr. Ephraim Ochonma, explained that the sport is already popular in all 36 states of Nigeria. He emphasized that membership of the association is a call to dedicated service.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Enugu State Vovinam Vietvodao Association Board, Hon. Valentina Amobi Eneli, pledged that the board would be responsive, transparent, and visionary in guiding both athletes and officials. He assured that the association would work closely with the Ministry to help Enugu State win laurels.
Also speaking, the Head Coach and Director of Technical Affairs, Dr. Chinedu Okafor, promised to entrench discipline and a professional Vietnamese martial arts training structure in the State.
In their separate goodwill messages Professor Ngozi Rita Ani and Michael Ali, thanked the Commissioner for inaugurating the board and assured that members would give their best to promote the sport in Enugu State.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of an Honorary Award by the association to the Commissioner.
