A retired military Officer, Mr Augustine Ezenwani on Tuesday narrowly escaped abduction by a four man suspected Fulani herdsmen in his farm land in Ubulu-Unor Community in Delta State
Reports said that the victim whose working tools were carted away by the suspected abductors, was said to have been rounded up by the gang armed with AK-47s , unfortunately for them he escaped narrowly when they had advanced closer to him like a magic wand
Narrating his experience to our correspondent in Asaba, the retired military Officer said” I had gone to my farm at Ubulu-Unor Community to harvest my yam when I ran into the suspected Fulani herdsmen. I was in company of a labourer and both of us were lucky to escape. The suspects were right in my front with the labourer and I don’t know how we escaped at gunpoint”
He said that while they were running the suspected herdsmen started pushing them, adding that” We hid ourselves somewhere and they ran pass us unknown to them and they got to my farm and removed our working tools, GSM phones, Military Officer ID card and We were able to report the matter to the police at Ogwashi uku police division who currently is investigating the incident”
In another development, three men and a woman who were abducted by suspected Fulani herdsmen have been rescued by the combined team of men of the Ubulu – Uku vigilante and the police in the area
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya who confirmed the incident said that” Some persons were arrested and the victims were rescued from the hands of the suspected hoodlums. It was a combined team efforts of the police and Ubulu- Uku vigilante group who saved the situation while the arrested suspects are currently being detained at the state CID for further investigation”
