The Director General of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, Hon. Silas Ali Agara, has disclosed that the Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the construction of a state-of-the-art mini stadium in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Agara who was a former Deputy Governor during the second tenure of former Governor Umar Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State made the disclosure to press men during the final of the 2025 Nasarawa State Governor’s Cup Football Tournament between Karu Local Government Area versus Wamba Local Government Area decided on Monday, 16th February, 2026, at the Lafia City Stadium.
According to him, the proposed stadium which will be situated along Jos road, Akwanga, will feature a standard football field affixed with artificial turf, a 5-a-side mini pitch, and modern indoor sports courts.
“I am happy that the Akwanga Mini Sports Stadium project has been captured in the budget of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.
“With the support of the Executive Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area, Hon. Safiyanu Isah Andaha, and the Paramount Ruler of Mada nation, His Royal Highness, Samson Gamu Yare, we were able to secure the land for the project.
“We have always believed in the potential of our young people, and suffice to say that this facility, once completed, will provide them with the right platform to display their sporting talents”, Agara revealed.
