Ex-Obidient Movement leader to announce new strategy ahead of 2027

Date:

Former leader and pioneer organiser of the Obidient Movement, Marcel Ngogbehei, is set to unveil a new mobilisation strategy as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ngogbehei, who currently serves as Director-General of the Labour Party’s Directorate of Mobilization and Integration (DMI), is expected to speak on the political landscape and the party’s mobilisation plans during a virtual engagement scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2026.

The programme, with the theme “DMI Updates, State of the Nation & Strategies for 2027,” is scheduled to commence at 9 p.m. Nigerian time.

Ngogbehei is recognised by the organisers as one of the early organisers of the political movement that emerged around Peter Obi ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

He was the pioneer founder of the Peter Obi Support Network (POSN), served as chairman of the first one-million-man march organised in support of Obi and was later elected unopposed as the pioneer chairman of the Coalition for Peter Obi (CPO).

During his tenure with the CPO, Ngogbehei led the organisation to the Labour Party/CPO Leadership Summit held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, in August 2022.

He also served as a member of the 2023 presidential campaign team and was a Labour Party chieftain under the leadership of Julius Abure.

However, Ngogbehei is no longer the leader of the Obidient Movement. His current role is within the Labour Party, where he heads the Directorate of Mobilization and Integration.

His latest engagement is therefore expected to focus on the Labour Party’s mobilisation architecture, integration efforts and broader political strategies as the 2027 elections approach.

The DMI has invited supporters and party stakeholders to participate in the virtual session, which is expected to provide updates on the directorate’s activities, examine the state of the nation and discuss strategies for the forthcoming electoral cycle.
