It is one of the oldest grassroots community league in Nsukka geopolitical zone. It is among the pacesetters in Enugu state.
The Opi League, also called Eze Arinze Unity Cup. Opi League has metamorphosed into one of the brightest community leagues in Enugu state.
As has been the tradition, the annual league will as always kick-off on the 26th of December, 2019.
Established since over 25 years ago, the league has produced reputable players both active and retired in Opi Town.
Instituted by Chief Eze Arinze of blessed memory, Chief Emmanuel Ogwu (Ochi War) took over to see that the legacy of the Mr Arinze did not halt. He pioneered the sponsorship of the league until he too joined his ancestors leaving the cudgel in the hand of former Secretary to Enugu State Government, Dr Dan Shere to navigate. Since 1999, Dr Dan has personally sponsored the Opi League to the admiration of many.
Expectedly this year’s edition of Opi League/Eze Arinze Unity Cup promises to be more exciting.
Bestchoicesports.com.ng scooped that plans have been concluded to increase the prize money to a substantial amount.
