The Director, FCT Agency for Control of AIDS (FACA), Dr. Uche Okoro, expressed the agency’s determination and commitment towards ensuring absolute healthcare services in the FCT.
He spoke during a recent parley with key implementing partners in FCT, to review activities of the partners of the Agency, who are providing HIV/AIDS prevention services to female sex workers, homosexuals and individuals, who inject drugs.
Lamenting the plight of victims of HIV/AIDS, who are being stigmatised and discriminated against, the FACA boss urged members of the public to show love to them.
“The victims are not just given health care but are trained to life skill programmes to help them sustain themselves and contribute to the society.
“The report for the quarter presented by Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) shows a reasonable number of people who have been reached within FCT which include female sex workers, homosexuals, and people who inject drugs,” he said.
The Director therefore charged NGO’s to remain committed to the course of combating HIV/AIDS in the FCT, in order to bring a lasting solution to the scourge.
