The Labour Party (LP) has charged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to concentrate on providing the dividends of democracy to Nigerians instead of using some disgruntled elements to cause crisis within the ranks of the opposition political parties.

National Youth leader of the party, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu gave the charge in a statement he issued on the strength of the ruling of the Appeal Court which recently ruled that Barr. Julius Abure remains the authentic National Chairman of the LP.

Ahanotu in the statement captioned: Appeal Court ruling—enough for Apapa, Arabambi and others, noted that despite the position of the Court, the group led by Lamidi Apapa has continued to deceive members of the public that he is still the national chairman of the party.

The national youth leader said the ruling APC is behind all the efforts of the Apapa group to destabilize the LP despite the position of the Court on the matter.

“Credible opposition is sine-qua-non for effective governance. Hence, the ruling party should stop manipulating the Labour Party in a bid to silence our leaders. The APC should concentrate on delivering democratic dividends to citizens of Nigeria who are hungry and angry”.

He equally took a swipe at the Apapa led group for allegedly making malicious and unfounded accusations against the leader and Presidential candidate of the party, Mr. Peter Obi.

“It is no longer news that on the 5th of March, 2024 the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja confirmed the legitimacy of the Abure led Labour Party, thereby putting to an end season of misinformation by some of our former members.

“Despite their fruitless venture, Abayomi Arabambi and others have been going around speaking all manner of negative things against our party. Starting from his baseless allegations on our leader Peter Obi to fabricated allegations and threats to our National Chairman Barr Abure and other party leaders.

“It has also been disturbing how someone like Arabambi who ordinarily ought to be behind bars can be calling for the arrest of our national leader, Peter Obi on the account of a purported LP’s $15m dollars and ObiDatti presidential campaign fund, which Peter Obi obviously almost funded by himself. This must stop”.

The LP chieftain also decried the action of the police PRO in Benin whom he said spoke as a politician when he referred to Barr Julius Abure as a factional LP Chairman, insisting that he was acting out a political script.
