Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Fashola, yesterday urged President Jonathan to expedite action to recover the missing to recover the missing $20 billion from the purse of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, saying if recovered, the money could provide additional 20,000 megawatts of electricity for the country.
Fashola, speaking at the commissioning of Addo- Kekere, Lagbasa and Ajah-Badore Roads in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state, wondered why it is taking the Federal Government so long to recover such huge amounts of money that can permanently solve the problem of electricity in the country.
“If the Federal Government finds the $20 billion that is missing and deposit into the Federation Account, the number of megawatts will improve and we will begin to have constant power supply.
Fashola explained: “I know that if we have $1 billion, we will have 1, 000 megawatts of electricity in the country. So that is equivalent to 20, 000 megawatts”.
