Fashola to speak on insurance, pension contributions to economic growth in Nigeria

The National Association of Insurance Correspondents (NAICO) in conjunction with the Lagos State Government is organizing a public lecture on insurance and pensions industry in Nigria.

The theme of the lecture is The Role of Government in Management of Risks in Nigeria with Lagos State government as case study.

The lecture to be personally delivered by his Excellency, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), will x-ray the Lagos state response to insurance and pensions reforms in Nigeria with particular reference to the building insurance law, group life cover and contributory pension scheme.

The public lecture is slated for Tuesday, 28thOctober, 2014 Apa suits, Eko Hotels and Suits, Victoria Island, Lagos at 11am.

Organizers of the event say the public is part of efforts to reposition insurance and pensions to contribute significantly to the growth of the economy. The survival of the larger economy depends on the growth of these key sectors of the economy.

The public lecture will also see presentations from the Commissioner for Insurance/CEO NAICOM, Mr. Fola Daniel Daniel, the director general, National Pension Commission (PenCom) Mrs. Chinelo

Anohu-Amazu, the director general, Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) Mr. Sunday Thomas and the Chairman, Pension Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp), Mr. Misbahu Yola.

The occasion will also witness attendance of all Chief Executive Officers of insurance companies and pension fund administrators and other stakeholders in the industry.
