FCT Area Councils Poll: Maikalangu gathers more support

Few weeks to the conduct of the Area Councils election, the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu is gaining more support as more than 5, 000 residents of the municipality have pledged their loyalty to his candidature.

Maikalangu is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the election.

The supporters, who cut across different ethnic nationalities residents in AMAC, on Tuesday threw their support for Maikalangu because according to them, he has performed more than most former Chairmen in AMAC.

Mallam Yunusa Maikano, who spoke on behalf of the support group at the campaign office of Maikalangu, said within the past few years, there has been transformation in infrastructure and provision of social amenities to the residents.

He stated that in the area of road construction and Rehabilitation, Maikalangu administration has rehabilitated Durumi Access Road, opposite Prince and Princess with Solar Light, the rehabilitation of Mondic Road at Gwagwa Community and rehabilitation of Chief Palace Road Gbagalape.

As regards water projects, the support group explained that Maikalangu has been able to provide comprehensive boreholes at Dangma.

The group stated that the Chairman has constructed the Comprehensive Community Motorized Borehole at Durumi; Comprehensive Borehole at Kagini Community; the Mini Type C Borehole at Nyanya Area F and the construction of Solar Power Borehole at Kakoipa.

Others, the group said, included; the provision of Pipe Borne Water at Gwaladna Community; drilling and development of powered borehole at Wasa II Community-completed.

Maikalangu, they narrated, has also within his first tenure, provided electrical projects including; the Installation of CCTV System in AMAC secretariat,

installation of transformers at Nyanya Community, Supply and rehabilitation of standalone solar street light at town halls and slaughter houses in AMAC.

Others, they said, included; extension of 33KVA electrification supply as well as reticulation and Installation of 500KVA/330.415 Transformer at Gasaki Cheta Village .

On primary health care projects, the group said with the visible development, especially the fencing of Zhidu Primary Health Centre with Doctor’s Chalet at Zhidu, his administration ought to be supported for second term.

The group also said its support for Maikalangu was also based on renovation of primary school projects in AMAC.

These, include, the construction of a block of 3 class rooms with Head Master’s office and toilet at Chafuyi; renovation of Blocks of Class Rooms at LEA Primary School Garki Village at Garki, renovation of a block of 8 Class Room at LEA Primary School at Dakibiyu; renovation of a block of 3 classrooms with toilet and pupil’s fesk at Chorin Bisa LEA.

The group said with all these laudable achievements, Maikalangu should be supported by AMAC residents for a second term.
