FCT: FHA pledges improved traffic in Gwarinpa

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has said that, the authority is set to develop a unique enduring road culture in Gwarinpa, Abuja that has an exceptional traffic experience for a long time.
The disclosure was made yesterday during the stakeholder’s traffic management retreat for Gwarinpa Estate ll in Abuja.
The Ag.General Manager Quality Control Arc. Ochefu Ochoche,said the retreat was to bring together all stakeholders to craft a strategy that will eliminate the traffic hold-ups from Gwarinpa Estate and make our roads safe for all users .
He said, “ FHA Gwarinpa ll was developed as a premium residential neighborhood with excellent road network, quality infrastructure and conducive environment.
Gwarinpa Estate remains a choice destination of many Abuja residents as the place to live and work. But over time, traffic hold-up has become a common and seemingly intractable feature of Gwarinpa life.
He said the two major reasons accounting for the traffic problem are the increasing volume of traffic due to increase in population, and the attitude of road users and residents.
According to him, ”effective traffic management cuts across a wider spectrum of stakeholders that is why this collaboration is key, everyone present here has a role to play,FHA,Police,FRSC,NSCDC,motorists,residents,press,roadside traders,and civil Society.
“There is need for collective input, partnership cooperation and collaboration among all”,Arc. Ochoche said.
Earlier, the manger director/chief executive FHA,Umar Gonto,stated that, the aim of the stakeholders retreat was to make the most judicious use of space and time.
Gonto represented by the Acting Head Business Development, acting Executive Director of Business Development, Barr Hajara Kadiri,pointed out factors that contributes to incessant traffic log jams which are structural, human and ecological factors.
“For us in FHA,our concerns is to makes our estates comfortable and livable for our allottees. That is why we are taking this initiative to call together all stakeholders, so that we can brainstorm and proffer solutions to these problems and hope to sustain this move”, he said.
Meanwhile, he pledged full support and cooperation with the various stakeholders involved in the management of traffic on the estate roads.
