In order to complete the ongoing road projects across Abuja’s city and satellite towns, the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike has reassured that the FCT Administration is obliged to making sure that contractors are funded.
Wike added that in as much as the government do its own part, the contractors will also fulfill their own promise to deliver within stipulated time, so as to make the people happy.
He made this position known yesterday when he inspected ongoing Dutse – Bwari road resurfacing and the upgrading of War College/Army Checkpoint Road and other ancillary roads in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council. Others include the reconstruction of 25-kilometre Kwaita – Yebu and the 11km Yangoji – Sukuku – Eba road projects, in Kwali Area Council.
According to him, the FCTA is going to do anything to make sure that funding is not a problem to contractors especially those that are committed.
He said: “I’m very much impressed with all the contractors from Dutse, where here the SCC is working.Then we got to Ushafa in Bwari. Then we now went to Kwaita, and we are here now. I’m really impressed, very much impressed.
“You know we had heavy rains this year, and we gave them December to complete this project, but you can see the level of job they have done, quality job, and this is in the rural area.
“What amazes me is the length of roads, particularly as we have a very positive impact on these communities. When we went to Kwaita, you can see how long the road is, and we are now in Yongoji- Sukuk road. I can’t believe what I’ve seen. But I thank almighty God that Renewed Hope Agenda is alive and working.
“So like I said before, all areas in Abuja, be it the city, be it the satellite towns, will all have the impact of this government.
“We are still working on December. I don’t want to say that the roads will not be completed. I believe, like they said, they will hand it over to us in December. Let us keep to it. I don’t want to be pessimistic.
“I’ve seen the contractors, they’ve told me that they will complete this road. And with the good weather we are having now, I think we don’t need to doubt them. In as much as we do our own part, I’m sure they will also fulfill their own promise.”
