FCT: NSCDC nabs 112 vandals, 50 illegal miners in 2025

The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, Olusola Odumosu has revealed that the agency last year arrested 112 vandals and 50 illegal miners.

Odumosu stated this on Tuesday in Abuja, during the decoration of four hundred and two (402) newly promoted officers of the commands.

He said the arrest was followed by successful prosecutions that helped deter criminal activities.

“The suspected vandals were arrested for various offences such as; armored and fibre optic cables vandalism, theft of telecommunication equipment and installations, masts vandalism, street light dismantling, solar panel and poles theft, road crash barriers vandalism, billboards destruction and theft.

“In line with modern security demands, we have invested in capacity building through continuous training and retraining of personnel, including specialized courses in intelligence gathering, election security, crowd control, disaster management, and inclusive security practices.

“Furthermore, the FCT Command has distinguished itself in community engagement and public enlightenment, strengthening civil-military relations and building trust with residents of the Territory. society.
While addressing the newly promoted officers, the Commandant urged you to wear your new ranks with humility, integrity, and renewed zeal. Let your conduct reflect the confidence reposed in you by the Corps and the Nigerian people. Be role models to your subordinates, uphold the highest ethical standards, and remain steadfast in your loyalty to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“In conclusion, I commend all officers and men of the FCT Command for their sacrifices and dedication. I assure the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, the Commandant General, and the good people of Abuja of our continued commitment to professionalism, accountability, and effective security service delivery.
Once again, congratulations to our newly promoted officers. May your elevation inspire you to greater heights of service to our nation.”

While addressing the newly promoted officers, he urged them to wear their new ranks with humility, integrity, and renewed zeal.
