FCT to get $6.8M for Save One Million program

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is set to receive about the sum of $6.8 million for the facilitation of Save One Million Lives Program for Result (SOMLP forR) this year.
This was disclosed by the National Program Manager, save one million lives Program (SOMLPforR) Dr. Ibrahim Kana, while on a courtesy visit on the FCT Secretary Health and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS), Barr. Amanda Pam in her office.
Dr. Kana, who was accompanied by the North central and North East coordinator Dr. Okara Dogara added that the results of performance evaluation of SOMLPforR for 2016/17, which placed FCT as the North central champion and amongst the twelve(12) states of the Federation that qualify to earn more funds from the program.
He said this performance shows the capacity of FCT SOMLPforR team to achieve set goals, even as he noted that despite this outing there is still room for improvement to achieve more in the program for Results.
He also informed the FCT Health Secretary of the ongoing National Nutritional Health survey 2018, which has been improved significantly to address issues of communication gaps identified in the previous Surveys.
According to him, The 2018 National Family survey will also commence soon and all these surveys are opportunities for earning more points if states and FCT can take advantage of the windows of opportunities available.
On the issues of bureaucratic bottle necks, Dr. Kana promised to pay advocacy visit to the Honorable FCT Minister Malam Muhammad Musa Bello and the Permanent Secretary FCTA, Sir, Chinyeaka C. Ohaa with a view to create more awareness and the smooth implementations of the FCT SOMLPforR work plans.
Responding the HHSS boss, Barr. Pam assured the National Program Manager of the FCT Administration’s unflinching support towards achieving the set objectives of SOMLPforR in the Territory.
Pam restated the commitment of FCT Administration towards providing efficient and quality health care Services to FCT residents.
She also commended the FCT SOMLPforR team for their hard work and commitment towards achieving objectives of the program.
