In its determination to ensure the stabilization and improvements of water supply within the FCT, including satellite towns, the acting General Manager of FCT Water Board, Mrs Olanike Korede-Ajanaku has warned against saboteurs.
Korede-Ajanaku emphatically declared that the Board would deal ruthlessly with staff that connive by “unauthorized and unilateral reversal of water” meant for the residents of Abuja.
The GM said the committee she put in place has detected that water supply to distribution network are not reaching the target customers because of illegal diversion.
She promised therefore that within the next few weeks, residents of the Federal Capital City and its suburb will have adequate and uninterrupted potable water supply.
Mrs Korede-Ajanaku said all hands are on deck to provide water as at when due to residents of Abuja.
Korede-Ajanaku explained that in its desire to increase its revenue, the area offices of the board have been mandated to go on revenue drive.
In order to keep providing quality service, the General Manager enjoined residents to pay their bills promptly warning however that payment must be through remittal and not by giving staff cash payment.
She disclosed that the Board has acquired modern machines for easy and quick print of bills for customers. “Please don’t patronize staff or touts when you want to pay your bills. Go to our area offices and make your payment without hindrance.” She added.
Mrs. Korede-Ajanaku also urged residents to utilise the water judiciously and refrain from wastages. This she said residents can do by reporting burst pipe to the Board promptly.
She commended the FCT administration for ensuring the provision of one of the best potable water in Africa.
Meanwhile, some residents in Bwari, especially Yakubu Yinusa confirmed that there is now an improvement in the provision of potable water.
Chukwu Nnamdi, a resident of Nyanya said the area is now having steady supply, thereby helping them to save some money from patronizing water vendors.
