FCT: Yoruba leader urges council chairman to provide transformers

The Otunba (Yoruba leader) of Yoruba community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chief (Dr.) Wasiu Tunwase, has urged the chairman-elect of Gwagwalada Area Council, Mr. Adamu Mustapha Danze to provide transformers for the people of Zuba to boost electricity supply there, expressing joy over the re-election of chairman, for the second term in office.
Tunwase, who stated this in an interview with Peoples Daily correspondent after the announcement of the Saturday Area Council chairmanship election conducted by INEC in the area, describing the conduct of the election as a free and fair.
He said the chairman-elect won nine wards out of ten wards in Gwagwalada to beat other contestants, noting that this was the first time the incumbent chairman won nine wards among other candidates.
His words: “I know that the chairman-elect of Gwagwalada will win the election, because he is a man of his words and action”.
He then appealed to the politicians who lost the election to join hands with the chairman-elect to move Gwagwalada to the next level, and urged the chairman-elect to carry the Yoruba people along in the scheme of things as being promised by him.
He commended the re-elected chairman for the infrastructural development already put in place in Gwagwalada.
Otunba, who is one of the leaders of APC South-west in the FCT, however, urged the president Muhammadu Buhari to provide job for the people of Nigeria if he takes the oath of office for the second term, and pleaded with Nigerians to always pray for their leaders.
Speaking in the same vein, the Ezeigbo of Zuba, Igwe (Dr.) Raymond Ugwuagbo, urged the Gwagwalada chairman-elect to deem it necessary to repair the dilapidated roads in Zuba for the benefit of the people who voted him into power.
He advised the losers of the election to accept the outcomes of the results in good faith and prepared for the next election.
He, therefore, charged the residents of Zuba to continue to be peaceful before, during and after the election, saying that politics is not a do-or-die affair.
Ugwuagbo expressed with dismay the low turned out of the voters during the Saturday Area Council chairmanship poll in Zuba.
On his part, the Oba of Yimi community in Zuba, Oba Opeifa Tunji Segun who doubled as the legal Adviser of APC South-west in Gwagwalada, urged the chairman-elect not to forget Yoruba people for the second term of his administration.
He thanked the chairman-elect for the completion of the abandoned projects in Yimi community, urging him to focus more on the developmental projects.
Segun noted that there was no political violence in Zuba and Ikwa wards and its environs during the election, and said the election was peaceful.
