In a move set to redefine Nigeria’s capital city, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Suburban Broadband (SPV) to redevelop the Jabi Lake Waterfront into an internationally acclaimed luxury destination.
The historic agreement, signed recently at the FCT Minister’s Office, marks a significant milestone in Minister Nyesom Wike’s administration.
The project aims to position Abuja as a premier global landmark, with officials drawing ambitious comparisons to iconic sites like Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah.
The initiative is designed as a mixed-use development that will serve as a massive engine for economic growth in the FCT.

Key objectives of the project include, generating thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities for residents, developing premium residential, commercial, hospitality, and recreational facilities, and elevating Abuja’s status to attract high-net-worth international business and leisure travelers.
Speaking during the ceremony, Barr. Ahmed Nasser (Dan Darman Lokoja), leader of Suburban Broadband, expressed the consortium’s commitment to the vision.
”This partnership marks a pivotal step in redefining Abuja’s skyline and global reputation. Jabi Lake Waterfront will cement the FCT’s status as Africa’s leading capital city,” Nasser stated.
The Suburban Broadband delegation included prominent figures such as Mrs. Olufunmilayo Hannah Aigbomian, Mr. Idris C. Usman of First Trust Mortgage Providers, and Mr. Pankaj, the project’s foreign technical partner.
Also, Wike issued a firm charge to the consortium, urging them to adhere strictly to the terms of the MOU.
He emphasized that the FCTA expects nothing less than transparency, sustainability, and excellence.
In response, Mr. Pankaj affirmed the company’s resolve to deploy cutting-edge international expertise and innovative designs, pledging that the consortium would mobilize to the site immediately to meet the stipulated delivery timeframe.
The Jabi Lake redevelopment is the latest in a series of strategic moves by the FCTA to prioritize Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs). The administration views these collaborations as the primary engine for sustainable development and a necessary step in improving the quality of life for all Abuja residents.
With the signing of this MOU, the transformation of Jabi Lake from a local waterfront to a world-class luxury hub has officially begun.
