The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reached a pivotal turning point in healthcare excellence as the medical laboratories of Wuse, Asokoro, and Maitama District Hospitals were officially awarded the ISO 15189:2022 Accreditation Certificates.
The prestigious certification was presented by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) during a ceremony at the MLSCN Headquarters in Abuja.
According to Winnie A. Tanu, Public Relations Officer for the Hospitals Management Board (HMB), the achievement underscores a massive leap in diagnostic reliability within the nation’s capital.
Representing Dr. Dolapo Fasawe,
the Mandate Secretary of the Health Services and Environment Secretariat (HSES), Dr. Ahmadu Abubakar hailed the accreditation as a reflection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“This attainment demonstrates the FCTA’s resolve to strengthen laboratory systems and ensure accurate diagnostic services.
“This milestone is not the end, but a motivation to raise the bar even higher across all public health facilities”, Fasawe stated
On his part, the Acting Registrar/CEO of MLSCN, Dr. Donald Ofili, noted the significant progress made since 2015, when only Bwari General Hospital held such a distinction.
He commended the FCT leadership for driving excellence and setting a national benchmark for other states to follow.
By aligning with these internationally recognized standards, the FCTA ensures that residents have access to safe, reliable, and globally competitive medical testing, further solidifying Abuja’s position as a leader in Nigerian healthcare infrastructure.
