FCTA restates commitment to healthcare workers’ welfare

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reassured FCT medical workers of the Administration’s commitment to their welfare, as it will help enhance productivity and commitment.
Making this assertion, the Permanent Secretary FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr. Baba-Gana Adam, added that the FCTA management is open for dialogue with its staff on issues about their working terms and conditions of service.
Adam spoke when the executive members of the FCTA Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) led by the President, Comrade Rifkatu Lortyer paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
He noted that the establishment of unions in an organisation is to enable workers to come together as a powerful, collective voice to communicate with management about their welfare, and to push for safe, fair, and decent work environment.
He urged the union to join in the pursuit of excellence in FCT Civil Service, by becoming the monitoring eye of the government in different health establishments to ensure patient centred approach in service delivery which is the core vision of the Administration.
This, according to him will bolster performance and bring about relevant changes needed to achieve set goals such as Universal Health Coverage in FCT health facilities.
Earlier in her remarks, the FCT-JUAC President, Comrade Rifkatu Lortyer had revealed that the purpose of the visit was to introduce the executive members of the union and to discuss issues relating to the medical workers under the FCT Administration.
She noted that the union acknowledged the transparent and inclusive nature of the present administration, especially the effort towards the payment of outstanding workers arrears.
According to her, JUAC is an umbrella body of affiliate unions of the FCTA that mediates between the management and staff of the administration for a harmonious working relationship as well as efficient and effective service delivery.
She added that the union aligns with the vision of the administration in ensuring a conducive environment that would benefit the welfare of the workers and guarantee their utmost output.
