FCTA to foster human dev’t through STEAM camp project

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reiterated its commitment to accelerating human capital development and inclusion through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) camp initiative, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
Making this assertion, Mandate Secretary for FCT Women Affairs Secretariat, Dr. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, noted that the STEAM camp project is a testament to the political will of the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike to support and domesticate the universal inclusion instrument.
Benjamins-Laniyi, who spoke at Karonmajiji, in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), during the week 4 of the ongoing STEAM Camp, noted that the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat is very grateful to Prof Hauwa Ibrahim from the Peace Institute, for the collaboration and the young adults from America and Rome, who have volunteered their time and resources to help build the capacity of the vulnerable children in the FCT.
She added that week 4 is a very special week because the camp is situated in Karmajiji, a community of persons living with disabilities.
She reiterated that the decision to situate the STEAM camp in Karmajiji is a testament that the FCT Administration is serious about leaving no child or community behind in the human capital development drive.
“Now they love Mathematics, they were confused about Science, but now they understand science because science has been broken down into practical, fun packaged precept and concept”, she stated.
According to a statement from Deputy Director/Head, Public Relations Department of the Secretariat, Josie Mudasiru, the Mandate Secretary and her team also paid a courtesy visit to the Sarki Karonmajiji, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammad Katsina, where she pledged the commitment of the FCT Administration to continue supporting the community and persons living with disabilities in the area.
“She informed them of an Empowerment programme from the office of The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu on thursday, August 22nd, 2024 where women traders and artisans will be supported with a sum of fifty thousand naira and other incentives to boost their business.
“She said that The Administration has brought light to their community because knowledge is light”, the statement added.
On his part, the Sarki Karmmajiji, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammamed Kastina expressed their gratitude for the intervention, and prayed that children in the community will attain the height of Prof. Hauwa Ibrahim, who was once a hawker as a child has attained.
The statement disclosed that the STEAM camp classes will continue till Friday, August 23rd, when the beneficiaries will be issued with a certificate of participation.
