The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has taken the campaign against Drug Abuse to Private Schools within the Territory, as part of activities to commemorate the 2024 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.
According to Mandate Secretary, FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat (HSES), Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, who led the sensitization campaign, said the initiative to sensitize youngsters was pertinent, to secure a better future for those who have prospects to be secured.
Fasawe, who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Administration HSES, Mrs. Gloria Dandam, noted that drug abuse control is the responsibility of all relevant stakeholders.
She said: “Drug Abuse Control is the responsibility of all stakeholders including government, communities, families, schools, civil societies and religious organizations, especially sharing of information by parents, guardians, teachers, policy makers and youth.”
Ealier, the Chairman FCT-Drug Abuse Control Committee (DACC), Pharm. Boniface Ikwu, explained that the aim of the campaign is to make known facts that are evidential to causes and consequences so as to prevent Drug Abuse amongst the future generations.
