FCTA urged to rehabilitate Dei-Dei livestock market

The Sarkin (chief) Zango of the Dei-Dei international livestock market in Bwari Area Council, of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Sa’ada Kusada, has called on the authorities of the FCT Administration (FCTA) to as matter of urgency to rehabilitate the market, to enable it meet up with the international standard it was created for.

Kusada, who made the call in an interview with Peoples Daily, in Dei-dei, also urged the FCT Administration to drill boreholes as well as provide a transformer in the market, to boost socio-economic activities there.

He further appealed to the Senator Bala Mohammed-led FCT Administration to repair dilapidated roads in the area, so as to enable the people to have easy access to the market at all times.

He pointed out that during the rainy season, many motorists bringing customers to the market found it difficult gain entrance into the market.

Also, he called for the fencing of the market to safeguard the lives and property of the traders in the market, while appealing to the FCT Administration to construct culverts in the market, in order to overcome the problem of reoccurring gully erosion.

The Sarkin Zango, however, pleaded with the FCT Administration to work through its Agriculture secretariat to put a stop to some people selling goat by the roadside, by ensuring that they are made to relocate to the designated livestock market, for the sake of orderliness and revenue generation.
